Bombay
Après l'aéroport, voici le premier contact avec Bombay (en banlieue, un hotel miteux et hors de prix, juste pour passer une partie de la nuit entre deux avions).

This is the first contact with Bombay, just after the airport (in a suburb, an awful hotel, extremely expensive, just for a small night between two flights).
Le seul employé sympathique de l'hotel était ce jeune népalais. Cette photo est prise dans la salle du petit déjeuner. Des souris couraient le long des murs, et nous étions un peu affolés, pas lui ! Il riait !

The only nice and smiling employee of this hotel was this young man from Nepal. This picture was taken in the breakfast room. Mice were running on the floor along the wall, and we were scared, not him! He was laughing !
Nous sommes revenus quelques jours plus tard à Bombay, pour prendre l'avion du retour et nous sommes restés deux jours, cette fois-ci dans un vrai palace (le "Taj Palace"), accompagnés par Ani, un indien de notre hotel de Kovalam, qui nous servait de guide. Devant l'hotel il y avait énormément de bateaux.

A few days later, we came back to Bombay in order to take our flight back. We stayed only two days, but in the most luxuous hotel ("Taj Palace"). Our friend Ani, from the hotel in Kovalam, was with us, as a guide. In front of the hotel there were lot of boats.
Les anglais ont construit ce monument, la "Porte des Indes", symbole de leur puissance, juste en face de l'hotel.

Un bateau en face de l'hotel nous a amenés à "l'ile éléphantine", où se trouvent de vieux temples ...et beaucoup de marchands de souvenirs ! Daniel n'a pas hésité à louer un palanquin pour monter les nombreuses marches menant aux temples. Les porteurs étaient exténués, car Daniel n'était pas léger. Le porteur à droite est pieds nus!

A boat in front of our hotel took us to the "elefantine island", where you can visit some old temples ... and lot of souvenirs ! Daniel did not hesitate to rent a palankeen to climb all the stairs leading to the temples. The bearers were exhausted, because Daniel was not a light-weight. Bearer on the right side is bare-footed!
Sur l'ile, en plus des touristes, il y a de nombreux petits singes. Ils savent ouvrir le robinet d'eau, mais pas le refermer.

On the island, besides tourists, there are lot of small monkeys. They know how to open the tap, nut not to close it.
Des bateaux aux temples, on prend un petit train.

Danse indienne, au coin d'une rue, dans la cour d'une administration. Les indiens sont adorables, ils m'invitent à entrer.
