In a state owned shop, you may find some goods, sometimes. A plastic water lock costs 80 pesos; some paint 85. Average salary is 400 pesos per month. Imagine ! |

A CIENFUEGOS il y a un extraordinaire opéra "fin de siècle". L'on a pu y voir et entendre CARUSO et Sarah BERNARD. L'opéra fonctionne encore, avec notamment un festival de théâtre et de ballets.
In CIENFUEGOS there is a marvelous opera from the turn of the century. CARUSO and Sarah BERNARD were performing here. And it still works with theater and ballet festival. |

Un espagnol très riche construisit cette maison pour sa femme adorée. Le style est "Mudejar". A l'époque Cuba était le premier producteur mondial de sucre. C'était comme une mine d'or qui ne s'arrêtait pas... La maison est maintenant un restaurant.
A very rich Spanish man built this house for his beloved wife. It is in "Mudejar" (Spanish Arabic) style. At that time, Cuba was N°1 in the world producing sugar. It was like a gold mine for ever... The house is now a restaurant. |
